Who We Are

NCONL is a not-for-profit professional organization which collaborates with other state-wide organizations such as the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON), the North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA), the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), and the North Carolina Center for Nursing
(NCCN) to continually promote quality patient care and provide a strong voice to support effective nursing leadership. Examples of such collaboration include: NCNA/NCHA Workforce Taskforce; Hallmarks of Healthy Workplaces and Transition to Practice Project.

Through affiliation with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), NCONL has been and continues to be represented at the regional organizational affiliate meetings by its past and current presidents. Other key positions of influence are held on the national scene by Pam Rudisill, President and Eddie Beard, Past President, who serve on the AONE Program Committee and Elaine Smith, who serves on the Advisory Committee. Pam Rudisill also serves as a board member of AONE in the capacity of Region 3 Representative, Brenda Summers is a member of the Strategic Planning committee and PAC, and Debra Hernandez serves on the Nominating
Committee. This level of involvement allows NCONL to keep abreast of national issues and to influence how they may impact regional operations. NCONL is continuing to participate in the North Carolina Board of Nursing's Continued Competency Taskforce to introduce competency validation (reflective practice approach) for staff nurses throughout the state.
